perks of being a wallflower

This truly beautiful book by Stephen Chbosky tells the story of Charlie, a shy Freshman boy at High School, who is a wallflower and watches life go by, writing about it in his diary. From making new friends to falling in love we follow Charlie’s year, through the bad and good.

An emotional novel, you instantly feel drawn to Charlie and the other characters, as they work their way through life, no matter what is thrown at them. A brilliant coming of age novel, Chbosky captures teenage life so accurately and in a way many others fail to create. With funny scenes that will make you giggle to yourself, and sad scenes that could have you in puddles of tears, the author takes you through a complete emotional roller coaster.

The characters and their relationships, create a great story that will keep you gripped till the very end. The writing style itself is also so lovely there’s nothing I didn’t like about this book. For anyone who watched and liked the film adaptation I would definitely recommend this book as it goes so much deeper than the movie and for anyone else who is thinking about reading it, this is a must read novel.
