Gatsy 1The story begins with Nick meeting Gatsby at one of his renowned, elaborate parties described by by the omniscient character of Nick Carraway who narrate the whole novel. He describes the drinks, the decorations and all the people he meets bin the finest details. The descriptions of Gatsby’s extravagant parties make you almost feel like you’re there. Listening to the music, drinking the cocktails and mingling with the strange array of people.

The mystery behind Jay Gatsby is a significant aspect of Fitzgerald’s novel. The guests at his parties gossips throughout the novel with countless, ridiculous ideas of who he was and how he gained his money. As a reader I was perplexed by Gatsby and the enigma behind him and we eventually learn his full story through the trusted character of Nick Carraway.

Fitzgerald’s ‘Great American novel’ has the ability to captivate audiences through its amazing descriptions, exaggerated characters and scandalous plot.

A classic must read to anyone who loves books!
